定语从句翻译技巧

1、后置译法

将定语从句完全置于被修饰词之后，同时要把关系词翻译出来

(所谓关系词，就是在定语从句中引导定语从句的单词，如that,which,who,whose,一旦定语从句后置，在翻译时就要把它们翻译为具体的名词)

2、前置译法

将定语从句完全置于被修饰词之前，在定语从句后面加上一个“的”字即可。一般而言，八个单词以下的定语从句前置。

3、翻译技巧专题练习——定语从句

第一题：

This assumption rests on the fallacy of the inherent laziness in human nature;actually,aside from abnormally lazy people,there would be very few who would not want to earn more than the minimum,and who would prefer to do nothing rather than work.

【答案】假设基于这样一种谬论：人性中存在着天生的懒惰，实际上，除了特别懒惰的人以外，很少有人不愿意挣只比最低生活费多的钱，也很少有人愿意无所事事，而不去工作。

第二题：

Behaviorists suggest that the child who is raised in an environment where there are many stimuli which develop his or her capacity for appropriate responses will experience greater intellectual development.

【答案】行为主义者认为，一个孩子如果生活在有很多刺激的环境里，而这些刺激促进了其反应能力的发展，那么这个孩子将经历更急剧的智力成长。

第三题：

My assistant,who had carefully read through the instructions before doing his experiment,could not obtain satisfactory results,because he followed them mechanically.

【答案】我的助手虽然做实验前仔细通读过说明书，但由于生搬硬套，故未能得出满意的结果。
